[DMCForum] Travis's Bypass Pipe

Seem to remember Y pipe being funny shape to weld to directly. What is
flange bolt circle? Any chance one of these standard domestics will fit?
http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/109/html/0040.html

Would need to expand & bend a connecting pipe, but at least would mate up.

Found out advantage of gutted converter vs bypass last week when I
took a Lincoln to be inspected at different garage than usual: fellow
actually looked under car for converters. Wasn't going to pass me
because he didn't see them (didn't know Ford put up by manifolds until
I showed him. Genius). Fortunately this one hasn't gotten new exhaust
system yet (good thing he didn't look under hood for EGR and smog
pump!). Guess one advantage of gutted converter is psyching out
inspection guys.

Of course you wouldn't know about that down there, eh? (Can you
believe we actually have nerve to make jokes about South Carolina?)
