Re: [DMCForum] Automatic Antenna Question

Bill, I installed a Sony radio yesterday, too.

Where's the problem ?
They just use two wires to make it simpler to connect the amplifier and
the
power antenna to the unit. The Antenna normaly has a relay inside that
draws
about 100mA,
therefore use the 300mA for that to make sure it won't blow.

The amplifier normaly draws only a few mA, the 100mA output should be ok
here, but it could
also be connected to the same wire as the antenna.

I guess your problem is, that you don't know what voltage and current
means.
100mA or 300mA simply means this is the maximum current you are allowed to
draw from this output !
They both deliver a +12V signal when the radio is turned on. The +12V will
be on that wire, the current that flows depends of the resistance of the
unit
that you attach to the wire and ground.

That's science, first grade, first week.
You can compare voltage with pressure and current with the water that
comes
out of your tap.
Tap fully open is short circuit, tap closed is no current at all. The tap
is
your resistor.

Hope this helps a little bit
