I think it is 2400 Newtons.  And the proper units are just plain Newtons.
Newton-meters would be the amount of work it would take to compress the
strut a certain distance.

Long ago I posted something to the DML calculating how much weight it
would
take to compress a door strut.  Whatever it was, it was a good bit more
than
average body weight.

I tried doing a search, but the internet isn't cooperating right now.
