The tach AND the speedo?  The speedo is purely mechanical and the tach is
electric.  It seems odd that both would do similar things.

I have seen two extremes with tachometers.  Mine has a slow response time,
so when the engine is hunting, the tach stays mostly still.  Then I saw a
DeLorean who's tach acted like a pin wheel.  If you flipped the ignition
on
& off quickly, sometimes it would spin all the way around twice before
stopping.  I suggested marking the parameter with magic 8 ball answers
like
"yes" "no" "maybe" "try again" "ask later"....
