I wrote him about it and he does have good reasons for not going on the Run.
I'm not sure if it will help for everyone write him, but its worth a try.

Rich he did say that if you or Louie had any problems he would drive to
help...  Maybe a fuel pump could fall out of your tank somewhere around that
I10-I75 junction.
