The DMCH one has fibreglass heatshielding stuck to it. I assume it's
what it is because I did some investigation. of my own some time back
and that's what the stuff I got looked like. it's one of thoise things
that if we were going to sell 10 in a year, it'd be worth having made,
but Houston do them for a decent price so why bother.

What you have there are aluminium sheets (says in the image anyway). Al
is one of the best conductors of heat so personally I wouldn't want it
for a heatshield.... SS is actually quite a poor heat conductor so not a
bad choice - add to that the proper material, and you're onto a winner,
althoguh I reckon they got it the wrong way around! DeLorean Steel
Products has some blurb about "V4A" Stainless being some sort of magical
Stainless alloy for heatshields. This is nonsense, V4A is common-as-muck
316.
The whole thing about making the heatshield bigger is a moot point.
Remove the cat and fit a set of our pulley bearings and you'll never
have any heat related troubles :-)

One of DMCH's. I wouldn't fit a new original anyway - in fact that's
probably illegal :-)
