Yeh, I can see why the difference:
AZ being closer to the West Coast the car is closer Long Beach - This
makes the shipping route longer.
Or I could ship from the East coast, making the shipping shorter, but
needing to be transported across America to get there.
Either way I'm screwed.
You were quite lucky as Lexington NC is on the E.Coast so you got the
best of both worlds :)

arrangements were made, he was asked at the last minute, that "due to
problems" at the USA end, one car would have to travel in a container, (
at no extra cost) no probs thought Andrew. However when it arrived, the
UK, it was transferred to Thames-port and the handling company DEMANDED
an extra ?300.....<snip>"
Yeh Chris *exactly* the same has happened to me. Again "at no extra
cost" Fortunately I was warned about the additional _port_ fees before I
finalised the shipping. Hence the +280 I mentioned.

Hi Ian
When I originally looked to ship my and Rich J's D's (as a pair) I took
Dan WIllis' advice and sought out a US-based firm to do it. I found an
excellent site with a huge long list of shipping companies. Once I'd
ruled out those who wouldn't take non-runners, I then scaled down the
search to those who actually quoted me for a point-to-point journey -
where the cars were being stored to Southampton. Transcar was the only
company that did this. We each paid $1245 from Lexington NC via
Charleston SC. I have to say that Richard's quotes seem strangely high.
