Hi Martin, the CO content when measured by a gas analyser should always be done pre-cat (via a sample pipe) and the figures 1.0-1.3% are at the samplepipe. The Cat will reduce this to 0.0% ideal or 0.3% max (MOT limit to newcat equipped cars) so I agree with what you say.
I'm sure I said in the earlier e-mail that if the cat is removed then the system then measure the CO content by % volume at the exhaust.
My car has a cat and I set mine with the duty cycle of the freq valve set to 50% using the O2 sensor as the exhaust analyser! My MOT reading was 0.01%CO !!
Happy motoring.

Hi Nick
I have both the Renault PRV manual and the Renault K-Jetronic manual.
The latter of which states that a lambda equipped system should be tuned
to round 1.0%. Are we talking across purposes here? You are talking
about sampling the gas upstream of the cat, aren't you? Without a cat,
0.3% at the exhuast pipe will be far far too lean, and should be set to
1.0% or 1.5% if you want to lose the lambda system and gain some power.
I've set up a lot of DeLorean engines.

>Nick - Not true, you set the base system to 1.0-1.3% (as per my Bosch manual), the Lambda system will reduce this value and the cat will do the rest.I'm sure I have uploaded the Bosch K-Lambda system on this newsgroup.
