See if the buzz you mention is coming from the modules. The RPM Relay contains a 555 timer chip. If this chip goes duff in the RPM Relay then it will buzz. The tone/ frequency of the buzz will get higher with respect to the engine revs although the engine will still run as it is pulsed on long enough to drive the fuel pump.
If this is the case either renew the 555 timer (£0.80 approx) or renew the RPM Relay.

Yet again - are you guys sure it is the frequency valve?
When I first heard the buzz, I immediately thought of the coil, but 
no sound there/no sound on the right hand of the engine compartment.

I'm positive that this sound comes from somewhere around the cold 
start valve - are there any other "gadget" around that area which 
could cause the buzz.

Again - is the buzzing dangerous in any way? It does sound like the 
whole engine has gone electric!
