Well it's what Zemeckis says in the audio commentary on the Aussie DVD....
Remember the film features the year 1985 but even the first film was
released afterwards (kinda like Windows 95 haha).
Mr Bond has a Jag in the new film. It was at the NEC and currently doing
the rounds on an advert for Jag on TV at the moment.

Am I being too old and cynical here but do y'all really believe Universal
Studios came and chose the DeLorean in 1981 - a completely unproven entity
from N.Ireland!?!
Do you not think that its more likely "J.Z.DeL-Boy" saw the benefit in
paying Universal Studios for the advertising rights ... same as BMW are
doing now with the "James Bond 007" movies?
