A quote from the engineer I'm on about:

"This is actually a very tuneable engine. Big valves are available off the shelf, so are cams, the capacity can be increased
to 3 litres with std parts, the compression ratio can be raised to 9.5 with std parts and more with machining. In the Volvo
940 & 960 application the engine had 170 bhp to start with so you could call this a minimum power output just by using the
appropriate parts and a
decent exhaust system. The potential is for 240 bhp plus though with big valves, properly developed ported head, cam,
induction system and exhaust system."
