Re: [DML] Recent Delorean Sales for replacement value

I would like to suggest to everyone to obtain classic car insurance on their Delorean with a guaranteed value in case of total loss. Hagerty are the biggest name when it comes to classic car insurance.

You do have have recent pictures and videos of the car with the vin number to prove it was your delorean I hope..since the majority of your receipts were burnt along with your delorean.

As far as the Insurance goes..they see it as a Beat up Delorean..since the Interior and engine bay was destroyed.. they have not much to judge the condition of the car before the fire.

They will appraise it for the typical value of a delorean with 33 years of average use/wear and tear on it..meaning unless you can prove otherwise..you will most likely get a check for about $13-$15K..the value of a delorean that needs the average restoration for a 33 year old delorean..wishful dreaming for anything much above that.

Unless you had a stated/agreed value when it first was insured..they will most likely NOT go by the average selling price of a top notch showcar/pristine condition Delorean.

Make sure you buy it back from the insurance company..so that you can recoupe some of the loss by selling off whatever is still sellable on your totaled delorean.

The car was not appraised yet, but was in daily driver condition with a pristine body. We hope to salvage what we can of the front end.

Cannot tell you the hundreds of manhours. He would never sell the car, so receipts were in the car or thrown away. It is not our best choice in retrospect, but we knew it's value to us had no monetary number, so it just didn't seem important.
