[DML] Re: Importance of a Fire Extinguisher

At all AACA events cars (and motorcycles!)are not allowed onto the field unless they have a fire extinguisher. As I see it, it is not so much for me, I take care of my car, it is for the poor bastard nearby who caches fire and I put it out so it doesn't spread to me! Now who is going to pay to refill or replace my fire extinguisher? No good deed goes unpunished. Gary forgot about when his fan jumper melted and almost caught fire. Not an uncommon event in a Delorean I am told. Point is having a fire extinguisher can keep a bad day from becoming much worse! As for Halon, yes, they are nice but if all you had was a bucket of sewerage you would use it! As for cell phones, you get spoiled when you are in an urban area. In between big cities there are a lot of dead zones. And by the time anyone gets to you all there will be are some smoking S/S panels arranged in the shape of what once was a car. Did anyone mention fiberglass melts before it burns. What remains ain't pretty. Moral of the story; carry a fire extinguisher, it doesn't matter what kind as long as it is large enough to put the fire out.
