[DML] Re: New stainless steel alternator tensioner on eBay

Thanks David.

So, there were two different alternator brackets produced. The later one used with the Motorola alternator, #110102, is the one that my part replaces. This is indicated in the auction.

The Ducelier alternator uses a different bracket, #102434 (NLA), which has a greater degree of offset. I'm not making custom brackets for the Ducelier, because anyone still running the Ducelier probably cares (a lot!) about originality.

If anyone is running a Delco/Autozone/GM alternator, and you were able to use the #110102 style bracket, then my bracket will be used in the same fashion.

Matt

This is one problem when you make parts, you must consider all of the possible combinations and permutations that you will encounter in the field. As for what is used on modern vehicles, most now use a serpentine belt with a spring-loaded tensioner. Another problem is that it is too easy to overtension the belt with it and you will quickly damage the water pump bearings. If this does get popular you should include instructions with a warning not to overtighten the belt.
