Re: [DML] "1980's Delorean Speedo Cable Fix"

Jim,

Why don't you use something that already exists and save yourself all the
trouble of reinventing a wheel?
There are some great aftermarket gauges out there. Some with "welcome
ceremony", some with additional features, multiple gauges in one. I would
look into that. Use the inner workings of a speedometer with odometer and
all the circuitry and just make it fit into the DeLorean size gauge. They
are backlit so you could easily use a backlit face that looks stock. Some
time ago I came across one with RGB backlight. Use something like that and
you'll be able to set any backlight color you like. Oh, and some gauges use
a link to communicate with other gauges you might have so they all have the
same color and brightness.
This should make it a lot easier but will surely take out the fun of
designing everything yourself.

Haven't started the speedometer yet, that will be the hardest one to do.
