[DML] Re: Buyers Guide book updates...

OK, I'm now sitting in my D. 1983 De Lorean Owner's Handbook, page 14:

"MANUAL TRANSMISSION OPERATION

CAUTION: When shifting to reverse to
avoid gear grind and possible transmission
damage the following procedure is recom-
mended. Shift to 1st & 2nd gear then to
reverse. This will slow the transmission main
shaft to allow a smooth reverse slider
gear engagement."

Paragraph is at the top of the center column on the page, above Fig. 22. (the shift pattern diagram) The illustration and the following section, "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION", are moved down to accommodate the new section. Just compared it to the '82 handbook .pdf file from the DMC News website. This section is not there. Don't think it's in my '81 spiral manual either.

Shame that section didn't make it into an earlier version of the manual because the procedure works 100%, and I'm always hearing fellow D owner grinding their gears when shifting to reverse.

I saw a perfect, unblemished example in a display case at DCS in either Gettysburg or Lexington in the museum room, and the two I own. One came in my car (in poor condition), and the other I bought from a vendor table at DCS in Gettysburg. I showed it to you there and asked if it was authentic, and you said, yes, from Consolidated. Perhaps you thought I was holding a late '82 version? My manual transmission operation page is different from your .pdf file for sure. It warns of the gear grind and explains how to prevent it. The next time I know our paths will cross I'll bring one with me to show you. The one from my car came with a white dealer list I mentioned in Orlando. I'll bring that too.
