BTTF conversions are a very small subset of the community. The controversy they generate is totally disproportionate to their actual numerical population (reminds me of the controversy over alternative fuel delivery...). I'd guess a couple dozen at most.

I happen to like *OTHER'S* BTTF cars. They add a quirky element to group gatherings, especially when the owners dress in costume as well. And they deflect attention away from you while you're trying to fill up with gas. Could be a tad unwieldy if everyone had one, but in minority numbers they are a whimsical alternative to the party line.

It is true that a BTTF car will be difficult to convert back to a stock configuration due to permanent prop mounting. I'm not saying that a BTTF conversion is irreversible -- just difficult and expensive to do so. Chances are a BTTF car will remain a BTTF for the rest of its natural life. Surely BTTF owners factored that into their decision.
