Re: [DML] Re: Contemplating a Carb Swap

Eric,

I don't know squat about carbs v. K jet but I did enjoy your satire. This thread is enjoyable reading for me just because I enjoy honest and reasoned debate absent of personal attacks and name calling.

What an interesting thread. It's practically been the only talking point

for 2 days. I think it's funny to see this revolutionary push to removing

the K jet fuel system for a carburator in the Delorean community. Wake me

up when we start talking about replacing our suspensions with leaf springs,

decide that really, incandescant bulbs are the way to go in the entire car,

or when we all decide to drill holes in the stainless to make the cooling

system more efficient.

Bill- you told the story about getting a car up and running with a new

crate engine and a carb before DCS 04. You had to drill some holes to make

things work- what kind of parts were you dealing with? Were they sourced

from the DeLorean vendor world and manufactured (or at least specified)

specifically for the DeLorean, or the PRV vendor world? If they didn't come

from a DeLorean vendor, it's definitely not a balanced argument to talk

about how shitty the K-Jet system is- the parts you were installing may not

have been intended for our version of K Jet. That's like saying "I can't

get my Blackberry smartphone to sync with Itunes. Blackberry sucks." I bet

that guy who put a Buick engine in the car had some compatibility issues

with the DeLorean hardware too.

As long as I own my car, I won't be carburating or Mega-squirting anything

into my engine unless DMC says it's alright. Not bashing the Carburator

Cult, I just don't want any part of that. Now, if we could go back to the

days of hand cranking the engine to start it, call me. I'm in. Ignition

switches and starters are way too complicated...
