My point all along has been that flexible steering couplings were industry standard at the time of DeLorean production. By not isolating the steering wheel from the steering rack, DeLoreans were an exception to widescale practice.

Note that Rover SD1 used a steering rack mounted in rubber bushings, just like DeLorean.
