You do all of the simple stuff first. Make sure you have enough of the correct oil in the transmission. Lubricate and adjust all of the shift linkage making sure there is no looseness or play. Check the motor mounts to make sure none are cracked. If all of this doesn't fix it you are probably going to have to replace the roll pins inside the transmission. BTW, shifting without the motor running is no test.
