[DML] Re: Won't start - no starter, no fuel pump, some relay clicking

Hey Kevin,

Is your starter original? Mine was until last month, when my car acted exactly as you described. The starter solenoid's contactor had worn out and wasn't energizing the starter. I confirmed this by shorting each terminal on the starter and solenoid to the 12volt battery lead- the motor turned when shorting the starter and the solenoid engaged the bendix when shorting the solenoid.

This happened to me leaving my office after work, so in order to get the car home I used a paint scraper, DMC Midwest, and a random friend to short the starter terminals while turning the key to start. The paint scraper was a good option because of the angle require to touch all 3 lugs.

The new starter is smaller and installation was easy. Unfortunately, the paint scraper didn't survive.

If this also happened to you, good luck!

I turned the key a few more times and it started cranking again but then after a few more turns it stopped again and hasn't worked since. I replaced the relays and fuses (update kit) and verified the fuel pump powers (RPM relay bypass). I was going to check the grounding wire next but wanted to ask if anybody has any suggestions.
