Re: [DML] Why Owners Carburete Their DeLoreans

I could tell you a long story but I wont. I saw Farrar's car for the
first time a little over two years ago. I had never heard of Bill,
and decided I wanted what Farrar had. The simplicity of Farrar's fuel
system, the fact that everything was new vs 30 years old, and the fact
that he could change his water pump in 5 minutes had me hooked in no
time at all.

You can say whatever smack you want but with Bill's manifold and carb
I've managed to get as high as 28mpg driving on the interstate at 60
mph. With my heavy foot driving I've gotten a consistant 22-25mpg on
the interstate. Driving in the city like a teenager has gotten me as
low as 17mpg. The efficiency of my car depends on how I drive.

I recently swapped my Spec .01 manifold for a Peugot manifold.
Currently the car is in the shop having some paint work done.
Hopefully I will get the car back tomorrow and I'll see what sort of
gas mileage I get with the new manifold. Bill tells me to expect a
1-2mpg drop in efficiency because of a difference in the Peugot
manifold.
