Seriously? You're removing the plastic wedge so you can close the door with the door latch in the lock position without jamming the latch? As I described? If so, I'm honored and delighted. This is first I've heard of anyone doing it. (Or are you referring to the "Elvis" mod?)

We do it on all the car we either install new latches or on the build cars.  A 
bit time consuming, but worth it, in our opinion.

Has anyone done the "wedgectomy" procedure on the door latches as described in 
the DMCNews Files (see below).  What was your experience?

Since I'm going to be opening up both doors for a major overhaul, I want to do 
all the maintenance/upgrades I can while I'm in there... 1) new window 
regulators, 2) linear actuators replacement for solenoids, 3) adjustments 
[passenger door troubles], and 4) return spring.
