[DML] Re: Starting a DeLorean from the Engine Compartment

Andy:
Why is it that geabox manufacturers "invented" the Park gear?
Why do manufacturers put an emergency (as English manuals call it) in a car.
Both - in proper working order - keep the car from moving by itself.

A gearbox has never been intended to be used as emergency brake!
In a manual it even can wear out the mechanism in the gearbox.

If your hand brake (EB) is not fully functional, make it so.

Letting other drive your car (the test station lady?):
You would not have somebody run and drive your car if you are unsure they know how to handle that specific car, wouldn't you?
Especially if it's a rather rare type of car, it's always good to ask before handing over the keys.

And yes, in nowadays world most people like to put the blame of their ignorance, unconcernedliness or even stupidity always on someone elses plate. Most often that is for trying to get some bucks out of it.
Plain sense and concern (also for other beings) are harder to find these days.

Welmoed.

Now, we have television commercials of cars being dropped out of airplanes and disclaimers at the bottom of the screen warning "do not try this at home." I bought a plastic storage bin at WalMart recently that came with a sticker on the bottom that read "to reduce risk of suffocation do not put infants inside." I personally suspect that any person stupid enough to put a baby inside a plastic storage bin is too stupid to read a sticker on the bottom, but one never knows....
