Re: [DML] Re: Alternate Fuel taxes it gets worse.

In Ontario (Canada) there are local power companies what will install free solar panels on your house, in a profit sharing model. They give you the solar panel in exchange for "renting" your roof to produce power and you split the profit on the sold back to the grid.

Which ..umm.. you could use the profit to buy delorean parts. (just to add some delorean content)

Besides all of the extra taxes on everything, in Virginia, Dominion Power is going to charge you an additional $85 a month if you use solar as they are not making enough to cover the servicing of your power line. So unless you go off grid, there is no benefit of using solar.

Yes, and alternative fuel cars will probably still be subsidized by politicians who think "green" is better than efficiency, regardless of cost, and taxed by politicians who think short term spending (aka "job creation") is better than efficiency, regardless of cost. With taxes, you can have the worst of both worlds. :-p

And you can bet your butt that as soon as something becomes a mainstream fuel,

it will be taxed. Just like gasoline.
