You have to actually read my posts: "I know there are alternatives...".

My question is: why do owners put a new muffler back there when converting to dual exhaust, as was done to this car? During the conversion is a perfect time to correct that particular aspect of bad design. Not only do you gain working space, but you eliminate damaging heat. Putting a new muffler back where the old one was makes as little sense as putting Grade 10.9 bolts back in the trailing arms, or putting in a new plastic clutch line. 

To the best of my knowledge only John offers a ready made dual exhaust package that eliminates the muffler across the back of the car.

Anyone care to list advantages of a muffler in the stock location (other than reduced time on the assembly line)?
