[DML] Re: British Motoring versus American Motoring

Gosh...I am glad I came to live in the USA when I was 2 yrs old..!!!! I just could not relish the thought of having to junk my cars in Italy every 4 yrs..Since I am the type that hangs onto my cars for 10/20/30 plus years..I still have one car stored away from 1975 and my Bric has been safely stored away since 1995 same with my 1996 Camaro since 2001 covered up in my garage of course,as all my cars past and present have always been stored indoors or garaged/covered even my parts(DMC's) cars were stored indoors.Even my "beaters" tend to be driven long term,my latest was a 1987 F150 and 97 ford Taurus wagon that I bought(both) in 2005,still going strong with many many years left to them.

A detailed inspection is required EVERY year for a car >4 yrs. old, as opposed to, I believe, just an inspection at pick-up for a new car. I find that interesting in that Italy is having such a financial problem, but appears to "force" people to buy a new car every 4 yrs. I would have a problem, as my youngest of 3 cars is a '97, & the oldest is a '38. The Delorean is in the middle. I don't believe the Brits are as rigid with their "older" cars, are they? Good thing Europe doesn't have our "Clunker Laws"! ;-) Drive Stainless Robert VIN 6924
