Re: [DML] Reply Steve Rice: LCA reinforcement and insurance coverage

Personally I would install the outriggers anyway, irrespective of deer.

They are frightfully expensive pieces of bent metal, but they do bolt right up (you don't have to figure out the angles and holes yourself). And Ed's fabricator does do a nice job (the entire backside of each bushing tube is a giant weld bead). I wasn't too impressed with his powder coating, however -- it was already chipped where the bushings press in. Not really a problem in my case because I repainted the entire suspension with 10-12 coats of enamel (brushed and sun baked).

My brackets showed up with Grade 5 bolts. Not a problem either because I had to replace them with longer bolts anyway due to the extra washers (I used Grade 8's). In theory Dave Swingle will supply Grade 8's with future brackets.

If I'm not mistaken, every owner predicting negative insurance fallout in this thread has been a northerner. Insurance experiences with my DeLorean have been every bit as amicable as yours (#5939 was attacked by pine limbs twice).
