Re: [DML] Re: Transmission Governor - Tampa Bay Area FL

I have the AAA Premier plan which allows for 200 mile tows. I have never used it but I believe it is well worth the cost.

If you do decide to take it there iestead of doing it yourself, you should be aware that the AAA in Florida now offers an enhanced membership that increases the free towing benefit up to 200 miles, which you can use up to 4 times during your yearly membership period. The enhanced membership costs about $100, and is great peace of mind for all of the usual auto club on the road assistance benefits (tows, jump starts, out of gas assistance, hotel discounts, bail bonding, etc.), and using the long-distance tow option just once more than makes up for the cost. I've had AAA's previous 100 mile limit enhanced package for over 10 years, and this new doubling of the towing limit last year only cost me about an additional $25. Since I live about 120 miles from DMC Florida, I thought it a very wise investment, and have already used it once with them. The old 100 mile limit also came in handy when I lost my tranny in New York coming home from the Chicago DCS in
2006 when I was about 90 miles away from PJ Grady. (not the best experience leaving it there, but don't get me started, I've mostly forgiven Rob since then, and it's a whole different story...)

Spend the $250 and have it towed to DMC FL. Nobody else is going to know how to
fix it, and if they try they'll damage it and you'll then have to spend the
money again at DMC FL anyway. Might as well get it done right from the
beginning otherwise you're jeopardizing the entire transmission.
