Doc probably would have drained the fluids, but like any good scientist/inventor, he's probably a pack rat (especially with something as valuable as gasoline in 1885). He should have had that gas sitting around somewhere in his shop in case it could be used for something else or in case he eventually got around to trying to fix the time circuits and wanted to head home. Of course, maybe he did find something useful for it and used it up.
