Doc most likely drained the fuel tank when storing the DeLorean,
knowing the fuel would go bad in much less than 70 years.

On a somewhat related note, the new gas added in 1955 after the
DeLorean was pulled from the mine, was most likely Leaded Fuel.

Since Doc would not have taken the DeLorean to the local Texaco,
he would not have to deal with the older, wider fuel nozzle.

Most non-military gas cans of that era had much smaller nozzles,
so getting fuel in the DeLorean should not have required a funnel.

Since the DeLorean was not driven much with the Leaded Fuel, there
should not be too many issues (right away) with a clogged CAT.
