Re: [DML] Tires won't hold air/powdercoating

I replaced my rims a few years ago via PJ Grady. I also needed new tires at the time.

I rolled the car into Rob's shop, he had new tires on the replacement powder coated rims ready to go when I got there (called a week in advance). In 20 min. I was done and out of the shop.

Everything has been great with them so far! :)

I had mine powdercoated locally when I changed out all four of my original
NCT's. You are correct that if they won't hold air... they're junk. The
rims have to be "cooked" prior to powdercoating, which if not done properly,
can give a slightly bubbly, orange peel finish. You might also find you have
some corrosion, and have to replace a wheel. That said, I'm very pleased
with the results. Some doofus PO had spray painted mine, and they were
peeling. If I had it to do over, I'd let a vendor do it, I think. Check with Don
at DMC in Garden Grove CA, he has some really great looking polished ones,
too. I'll be interested to see the answers about tire replacements. Mine
are nearly 10 years old, and while they look great, they'll need to be
replaced soon. (I very rarely drive hiway speeds with it.) I can't get another
set of Yoko's to replace the ones I've got on there now.
