RE: [DML] Fiat - Delorean - BTTF Replica on Motorweek

In my interview with Malcom Bricklin on my DSC 2008 video,

he claims John Z. tried to hire him and his team to help him design and build his car.

Considering the Bricklin was well into production long before the Delorean it would be absurd to claim that it wasn't an influence on the design of the car.

Although the SV1 had a bigger engine, the DeLorean is much better built car.

No doubt about it.

Of course, most Bricklin owners would love to argue with you about that ;>

I'll take stainless steel over acylic any day!!

Gary.. Of course it was an inspiration as was the Bricklin. A total bunch of BS. The Bricklin looks alot like a Datsun 1969 240Z and where does it end? During the 70's and 80's many cars had the "wedge design" , even Triumph (TR7 I think). It seems the design it was very popular and I cannot believe that one influenced the other. I believe that the term I would use for claims like the one made by others to have inspired the Delorean is nothing more than wishful thinking.

I was watching Motorweek today and saw this clip about the Fiat Freak Out gathering in PA. It shows a Fiat Back To The Future Replica. He said the Fiat was the inspiration for the Delorean. Looks like the guy is form NJ. Anyone seen this car before? Here is a video clip of the segment. It shows up at about 1:55 second into the clip.
