Bob is on this mailing list.  As you mention, he used a ZF automatic transmission.  It was from a Porsche, so a bell housing to fit the Rover V8 to the stock DMC (Renault) transmission is not relevant in that application.  I know of no adapters available for the stock DMC transmission, although Don/Dan at DMC-CA at one time made some custom bell housings for Chevy engines.

Tom and I did this on 1860.  You need the transmission, clutch, flywheel, associated parts (bearing, hydraulics, and such), shift linkage, and pedal box.

Because the mount plate for the automatic shifter is lower than the 5 speed, you can make your own mount for the 5 speed shifter.  You will also need to drill a hole in the frame for the cross gate cable.  

Look for parts here, DMCTalk, Ebay, or your local DeLorean vendor.
