[DML] Re: DMCH Budget Restoration Program

Dave,

So will the leatherique products work just as well on the vinyl covered items in the car as they will on the few leather pieces?
I am curious because I am looking to begin cleaning and possibly redying some pieces. Thanks!

The only leather is the seating surfaces (the top of the bottom pad and the front of the backrest) the shift boot on the 5-speed, the door pulls, and the steering wheel. The Plasiticolor I get in an auto supply but you can find them or a distributer on line. Their color Charchol grey. I learned if you hold the spray can about 18" away you get a dry spray that gives a similar texture to the original surface. Use several very light coats. Leatherique has our colors on file or you can send a sample for them to match. Go to leatherique.com. You will buy their Pristine Clean cleaner and the Rejuvinator along with the color dye. Much better product line than Lexol. They also sell crack filler that you can use to repair tears, cracks, and rips. If you do redye the vinyl you will find yourself doing it all. It will come out so nice and you will want it all to match. You will also probably redye the seats. It's so easy and will come out looking so good. The "trick" is to really clean the vinyl and the leather really well first. The Rejuvinator can take leather like cardboard and make it soft and flexible again.
