Re: [DML] DOA - Just a few thoughts...

I've been down the club road before, ran shows, managed funds, dealt with sqaublings and internal politics before.  Even served a couple terms as President.  So I know what's involved.  My experience has been that things like membership numbers (not names) have always been made publicly available, and club finances are open to ALL MEMBERS, but not made public.  Our goal was always to hold shows and fund raisers with the intent of donating to charity at the end of the year.  (Frequently the Special Olympics)  We only carried over sufficient funds to get us started the next year and we would publicly announce the amount we were able to donate at the end of the year.  Now if someone was considering membership and honestly had a question about the club's finances I would have gladly answered, but I do believe that to post the finances as publicly as the internet is just asking to get criticized by anonymous know-it-alls who have no real stake, but
just want to hear themselves speak.

Thank you Josh. I look forward to hearing about your meeting with the board, and do ask that present this topic.

Remind them that to attract (or keep) members, nothing should be secret in the clubs operations. The club exists to SERVE the members. No members...no club.

If I were to invest in a business venture, Surely I would be granted access to review its operational logs, bank balances, etc. The DOA should be no different. If I have questions as a potential member, they should not be shrouded in secrecy, and I would be told to just "trust" them and Join anyway.

Ken K. Has openly discussed his numbers with me about DCS when I asked.

Again Josh, you are doing a great job so far. I wish you luck and hope you can help create a new organization that will be a benefit to all who join.

Hey Kevin,

I can't personally divulge those figures without Board approval. I plan on asking for Board approval on the 15th.
