The buzzer has a number of inputs, a.o. the "seat belt not engaged", "door open" and the "ignition key inserted".
I found that on a lot of cars the switch on the ignition lock has deteriorated and not providing sufficient "ground" to make that signal work. The door open signal is usually connected to the lower switch at the driver's side door post.

A lot of buzzer malfunction due to corroded contacts on the connector.
You best start checking the contacts and see if some sound comes out of the buzzer box. The buzzer box is supposed to be on the metal plate under the driver's side dash where also is the (alarm/direction light flasher and the wiper delay module.

Go for it.

Welmoed.
