[DML] STEERING RACK BREAKDOWN

I've got an old steering rack that I'm rebuilding and have question that has me stumped. Starting on the outside you've got the tie rod ends, then the tie rod, then a large "nut" (for the lack of a better name) which connects the tie rod to the "steering drive bar". This "nut" is located under the boot on each side. How do you remove this nut? There is a pin of some sort inserted into the "nut" in the center of the groove of each one. They do not have a head on them for either a Phillips, Straight Slot, or Allen, so is this a tight fitting pin that needs to be drilled out or what? Any help would be appreciated.
