[DML] Performance Muffler

Shortly after purchasing my first DeLorean(6032) in 1999, I bought a "performance" muffler listed on Ebay. The impulse purchase has occupied space in my garage for close to 10 years since I traded 6032 for a DMC(Texas) Refurbished DeLorean in 2001. I am confident that the muffler was one marketed by DeLorean Specialties in Philadelphia in the late 80's, early 90's. DeLorean Specialties was operated by Fred Lockett. Delorean World Volume 6 Number 4 Summer 1989 has an article by Fred which describes the muffler and the installation procedures. The 304 stainless muffler has 2.25" exhaust tips cut on an angle. The article says the free flow design "enhances overall performance and fuel economy, liberates a powerful engine sound". The muffler was designed by Borla and a 15% horsepower gain is claimed. The Ebay seller stated that the muffler was purchased at P J Grady, used for 600 miles and then removed from the car. In looking at the muffler it is obvious
that it has been installed but used very little. I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has had experience with these mufflers. I have heard from one source that they were too loud especially on a long trip. I am considering installing it on my car but would like to hear from those who may have had experience with it first. Thanks,  Rod VIN 10921
