[DML] Fall Tour VIII and vin 3579 for sale

I'll be participating in the fall tour (have emailed Mike off-line), although given that I live in Mattituck (which is ~10 miles east of Riverhead) I won't be staying at the hotel. This will be my first Delorean event, and sadly it may be my last. I need to sell my car, need college money for my kids.

VIN 3579 is '81 automatic. For the first 23 years (until 2004) it was owned by a collector in Westhampton, maintained by Rob Grady. I bought it 4 years ago with 16K miles on the odometer. For the first 3 years it was my very reliable and enjoyable daily driver. This past year I've been driving it weekends only. It now has 51K miles. Rob Grady has continued to do the large jobs on the car (replace blown exhaust manifold gasket and catalytic converter, steering rack that failed due to torn boot, transmission computer, suspension lowering kit which I love for the much improved handling, angle drive, brakes/cylinders/brake fluid flush,...) and I've taken care of the smaller stuff (oil changes, new alternator, new copper radiator and associated hoses, upgrade the sound system to Alpine CD player with new speakers plus subwoofer, new battery,...).

The car has always been garaged. It has low mileage Michelin Pilots on it (it had the old NCTs on it when I bought it). No cracks in the dash. Seats are in good shape. Windows work. AC works. Only defects of which I am aware are an odd dent at the rear of the roof on the driver's side (Rob said this is easily repaired, just never got around to getting it done) and a problem with the heater A/C fan (probably a blown fuse, will sort this out before the weekend hopefully). Other than this, all electricals and lights/signals work properly.

It has had all factory upgrades done by Rob Grady, includes complete maintenance documentation (receipts and spreadsheet going all the way back to 81)

On this list there is the often quoted general rule of thumb that to own a D in top condition one will spend between $25K and $30K. My experience is that this is pretty accurate. If you pay less, you will end up having to put time and money into the car to bring it into top condition.

Make me an offer. It will be available to see and drive at this weekend's fall tour.
