[DML] Door Operation

Group,
I have owned my Delorean for several years now and I find something new (not in a good way) everytime I work on it. After attempting to add remote door unlock/openers I have found that basically someone has butchered the factory door lock system. What I need to know is how were the locks supposed to work orginally. Were they supposed to lock when the car starts or are they intended to be manually locked from inside or with the key.
Mine would lock upon starting the car but they had cut the linkages inside the doors and bent the wiper switches to disable them. All part of a alarm system I have since removed. I have replaced all the workings and now I just need to figure out how they should operate.
Thanks,
Steve T.
