[DML] LEDs - not such a new thing in cars?

With all the recent discussion of replacing bulbs with LEDs, you could
imagine my surprise when I found my father's owners manual and sales
brouchure from his 1975 Chrysler Imperial. By today's passenger car
sizes, the thing was the size of a friggin' house. In the sales
brochure it shows the gauges (temp, alternator, gas) and says "light
emiting diode technology alerts the driver to areas of concern". In
each of the mentioned gauges there is a 1 bulb LED!!!
