[DML] Re: DeLorean Frames

I have bought cars from north to south and east to west, and I live
in the northern salt belt,I SHOULD know how cars rust up here, and I
have relatives that live in the extreme south and I have bought cars
from the south and have seen how they rust..I made a BLANKET
statement on how a TYPICAL metal bodied car will rust,NOT a
delorean,I have yet to see a Delorean from the sunbelt with a rusted
out frame unless it was stored on a beach property.I can say for a
fact that 99% of deloreans with rotted frames come from the salt
belt states or at least were driven for a while in the northern salt
belt states.I am talking extreme rusting NOT surface rust.I stand by
my words, the northern METAL bodied cars rust from the bottom up,the
sunbelt cars rust from the top down.Look at any project car on
ebay, from the north and you will see what I am talking about, look at
project cars from the sunbelt states and you will see rot from the
top down.I Know it freaked me out when I first went to lower Florida
back in 1980,and saw muscle cars there with perfect bodies but rust
in the upper areas, and up here in Connecticut, the same Musclecars
were rust buckets.Today people in Cuba drive around with old
American cars from the 1950's,that still have no lower rust.Granted
any car will become a full rustbucket from top to bottom(or bottom
to top),if exposed to bad elements for a long enough period of
time.I had a ford wagon at one time that was a total rust bucket, yet
all the upper parts of the car were fine. When my Brother was living
in W.P. Beach Florida,he had a 59 T-Bird (orignal to Florida)that
the frame and all lower areas were mint yet the cowl was rusted, the
upper doors were rusted the trunk lid and hood were rusted, but all
the floor pans were like new etc, that is just typical of the sun
belt states.
