Re: [DML] Re: DeLorean coolant leaks vs. Cadillac coolant leaks

Good point, Rich.? To add to this, GM's 3.4L push-rod V6 from the late 90's to early 2000's have a nearly 100% leak rate through the intake manifold gasket.? I used to work in a quick lube, and nearly every Grand Prix, Buick Century, GM minivan, Impala, Monte Carlo, etc would be low on coolant when it came in, and if you took a flashlight, a pool of DexCool could be seen under the intake manifold.?

They never issued a recall, either.? Owners have been forced to deal with it themselves, and these are on cars that were only 2, 3 years old.

Makes a 25 year old D with a couple drips of coolant on the ground look pretty good!? (And it wouldn't be leaking if it were maintained.... GM's trouble is from the FACTORY!)

Bill,

I wonder how many of the 3 "leaking" DeLoreans were running on
original coolant hoses and clamps? (could have been 3 for 3)
Even if the hoses had been replaced, were the aluminum tubes
cleaned before new hoses were put on? Were new clamps put on?

As for Cadillac, they are still in business while having a near
100% coolant leak rate from the mid 80's through early 90's...
