I suggest you type "breaking mr2" into www.ebay.co.uk - loads of choice! 
If you need me to be a go-between, I'm always happy to help.

Have you looked into the electric power steering columns? No hydraulics 
involved and no modifiations to the rack required. The Vauxhall Corsa 
over here is a very polular choice for conversions and kit cars - 2 mins 
on google should give you some interesting ideas.
