Plastic tanks also have tabs bent over from the metal core.

Most common failure I've seen is the plastic barbs. They can not put
up with twisting or pulling. Hoses *MUST* be cut off. I snapped off my
bleeder barb, but was able to rig up a brass repair by running a short
length of tube all the way through the side tank, with a hole drilled
in the side to carefully mate up to the bleeder channel (the side tank
is otherwise solid up there). Sealed one end of the tube with a pipe
cap and screwed a metal barb on the other.
