RE: [DML] Re: Wheel Offset-Spare Tire

A couple years ago I had to use mine. It brought me about 10 miles home with no problems at all, but was flat a couple days later. --pete #16059

I drove on a spare once for a couple of miles. I get them to hold air by having them dismounted, sealed with Camel Bead Sealer (looks like tar) and remounted. I would NOT recomend driving on the spare. It's over 25 years old. I saw a spare from a Toyota which was 10 years old driven 10 miles. It separated and looked like a bunch of old rubber bands. Any tire over 7 years old is not to be driven on, including spares. Better to keep a can of tire sealer-inflator and a tire pump. With a slow leak it might get you to a gas station.David Teitelbaumvin 10757--- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Dave Swingle" <swingle_dmc@...> wrote:>> It's moot since the spare doesn't really hold air anyway, at least I've > never seen one that I'd be confident to drive on.
