What's the new Delorean gonna be, like $50k?  What he could do is buy a $10k delorean, put it in storage, and then when the day comes to crush his "new" delorean, do the old switcheroo and instead crush the $10k delorean.  Everyone will be in awe, it will make the news, he'll get 15 minutes of fame, blah blah blah, and in the end, he will have just got himself a brand new $50k delorean for only $10k investment.

Just an idea...
