RE: [DML] Rough Idle, Difficult hot starts

Pat,
Be very careful in using any kind of fuel cleaner because of what it might
do to the O Rings in the distributor. If you want to see if it will hurt
them, then put a small amount of cleaner in a glass with a normal small
Buna N-70 nitrile O ring, measure it before and after soaking over night in
full concentration and see if it swells. If it does then you might have a
chance either way depending on how much it swells in full concentration
after mixing in gas. Normally what I do is put the cleaner in the gas when
I'm going to go some distance and run it out. No sitting over night.
But, Honestly if the injectors are that bad it would take months if at all
to clean them.
Hot start would most likely be the accumulator and the rough Idle could be
the injectors. If you send them to me to clean, I also check the pattern,
holding pressure, and opening pressure. If you have different opening
pressures then this would be problems in idling smooth. The fuel distributor
will also cause rough idling problems.
