Scot,

I had the same problem on mine and used Mother's Back to Black on it which gave me okay results.  If you paint it I would use Krylon Fusion spray paint which is made specifically for plastic (no primer needed).  I would recommend using a semi-gloss (satin) black.  Let us know how it turns out.
